Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born on the 8th of July, 1989 in Paris. At the age five she relocated from London to Oxfordshire to attend The Dragon School. Emma's dream was to become an actor. When she was 6she was enrolled into the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch in which she was taught classes on singing, acting, and dance. As early as age ten, she took part as the lead in a number of Stagecoach Productions and School Plays. Casting began in 1999 to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by agent through the recommendation of her Oxford teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after 8 auditions. They were cast as the three lead characters Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's screen debut came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's release in 2001. This film was 2001's highest earning film, smashing records at the opening and the very first weekend. The film has been praised by critics for its film as well as the performance of the three main young actors. The Daily Telegraph in Britain that is distributed widely the newspaper, described her performance as outstanding. Emma received five awards in recognition of her work in the movie.
